RAINGARDENS
Every landscape should include a depression that welcomes runoff from your roof or pavement. Let us help you design several for around your home.

One example, originally a gently sloped Kentucky bluegrass lawn, this area has been re-engineered as a raingarden. Excavation now directs street runoff into this designed ecosystem, preventing direct discharge into the lake on the back side of this home. The plant composition, featuring blooming prairie smoke alongside sedges, grasses, and other seasonal flora, facilitates natural water purification. This system effectively filters contaminants and reduces nutrient loading, mitigating the occurrence of algal blooms in the lake caused by runoff from neighboring lawns.

The plants and soil remove contaminants and keep the lake from turning green with algae due to excess nutrients running off neighbors' lawn.
